OBJECT AS LETTER
This project explored the creation of typography using found, everyday objects, encouraging experimentation and design thinking beyond traditional tools. The chosen phrase, “True North,” was inspired by a personal connection to the outdoors and the symbolic meaning of the compass, which was used to form the letter "O." Materials were collected from a local park in Duluth to construct the letterforms, emphasizing the connection between nature and design. The final piece was assembled on a sheet of acrylic, allowing it to be photographed against various natural backdrops in Lester Park, adding depth and context to the visual narrative. This project highlights creativity, resourcefulness, and a meaningful integration of personal story and environment into design.

TYPOGRAPHY EXPLORATION
MULTIMEDIA INTEGRATION

For the large-scale portion of this project, the phrase “Stay Afloat” was constructed using rubber ducks to form custom typography. Measuring over four feet in length, the piece was built using hot glue, popsicle sticks, and green wire to hold the structure together. The installation was photographed at Twin Ponds in Duluth, with images captured from various vantage points including the top of a bridge, the shoreline, and the base of a nearby waterfall. These natural settings reinforced the theme and added depth to the visual impact. The final results showcase strong conceptual thinking, creative use of materials, and successful execution at both small and large scales.
